Textbooks
Textbooks are one of the expensive parts of college. You probably
never paid $250 for a book in your life. That is about to change if
you're heading into college.
There are a few ways to reduce the cost, get creative!
- Try looking online for your textbooks. Be sure to start
looking early. Search using the ISBN number to make sure you get
the correct version of the book. Double check your ship to
address has been updated on your credit card to make sure your
books get delivered on time!
- See if the bookstore has any used books available. Typically
a school bookstore will buy back used books for 1/10th the new
sell price, and then sell them back to you for 50% of the new
price. Yes they are making money for doing basically nothing but
used is cheaper than new.
- Talk to other students who have taken the class before. Some
professors reuse books semester to semester. You might be able
to buy directly from another student at a better rate than the
bookstore or internet.
- Use the library!!! Schools usually require that copies of
books for courses be maintained in the library reference
section.
Your text books are the first step to making your way to
graduation... you could be sitting in one of those chairs some
day...
